DTN COMMENTS: Some light trade has been reported in several areas, with
Northern dressed deals marked at mostly $360, $2 higher than last week's
weighted averages, while live business in the South is at $232, $4 lower
than last week's weighted average. Having said all of that, bids in
Nebraska have been lowered to $357 to $358 dressed, while live bids have
been knocked down to $225.
Today's slaughter totaled 117,000 head, 2,000 less than a week ago, and
8,000 below a year ago. Live cattle futures closed mostly limit down, off
720 to 725, while feeder issues ended the day with all issues down the
limit, off 925. Beef cutouts are expected to close mixed with light to
moderate box movement.
