DTN COMMENTS: A few bids are now on the table in parts of Kansas this
morning. Asking prices are around $183-plus in the South, and $300-plus in
the North. It looks like this week could be a wild ride, so fasten your seat
belt, and hold on. Beef cutouts are expected to be higher with light to
moderate box movement.
Some light trade took place in the North yesterday with dressed sales
ranging from $290 to $300, steady to $10 higher than last week's weighted
averages. Live sales in that area ranged from $188 to $190, $2 to $4 higher
than last week's weighted averages. Just a handful was reported sold in
Texas at $182, $5 higher than last week's weighted average. At this rate we
could be set to break the weekly weighted average record highs that were
broken again last week (record highs set last week, TX live
$176.70($174.79); KS live $178.24(176.09), NE live $186.21($183.37), dressed
$290.08(289.83); IA live $186.10($183.37), dressed $290.00($289.52) the
numbers in parentheses are prior weekly weighted average highs set in April
of this year.
