Wheat...West coast white wheat markets made another brief appearance at
the $6 level this week before settling back with the retreat in futures on
Thursday. Basis strengthened by a dime in late week trade but remained 30
cents below recent highs. Dark northern spring wheat markets saw basis firm
by a dime this week and all three wheat markets were bid flat into January.
Wheat Quality...Results of the 2025 wheat quality summary show the soft
white wheat crop quality was slightly above the five-year average, with test
weight at 61 pounds, dockage at 0.5% and a protein of 10%. Overall production
was 12% above the five-year average. White club wheat showed an above average
test weight but dockage was notably higher at 1.0%. Dry conditions impacted
spring club production, which came in at just half of the five-year average.
