Wheat...West coast cash wheat bids in early-week trade showed white
wheat basis continuing to strengthen relative to Chicago futures, with
spot basis narrowing to 28 under. This represents a 50 cent gain over
the past three weeks on support from recent export demand and limited
farm offerings.
Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed another subdued week of
wheat movement off U.S. ports, with shipments of 11.3 million bushels to
put the current year total at 233 million, which is 34% behind a year
ago. Hard red spring moved 5 million bushels, with both hard red winter
and white wheat each loading out 1.3 million. West coast exporters were
once again focused on row crop movement, registering 24 million bushels
of corn loadings but only 5.3 million of wheat, which went mostly to the
Philippines.
Crop Progress...Winter wheat plantings approached the two-thirds mark
for Washington, with Oregon at 25% complete, with both now slightly ahead
of average. Idaho reported 35% planted which is slightly behind average.
Emergence is at or above average for all three states.
